Smoke tests and sign-off
Check each change works, and have the business sign off the result.
Write the tests before the day
On Smoke tests, one row per check: ID, Stage, Change (ID), What we are testing, Steps to run, Expected result, Test data or record and Tester.
Agree up front who signs off each test, and put that person in Business sign-off by. A test with nobody named shows No one accountable.
On the day
- The tester sets Result to Passed or Failed. Run at fills in.
- The business owner sets Business sign-off to Approved or Not approved. Signed off at fills in.
Sign-off check shows where each test is: Not run yet, Failed, Waiting for sign-off, Not approved, Signed off, or Approved without a pass.
Every change covered
The Changes tab shows Covered? for each change: No steps, No smoke test, Rollback missing, Not signed off yet, or Signed off.
Data migration
For each set of records being moved, fill in Records before, Records expected after and, on the day, Records loaded and Records failed. Match says Matches, Does not match, Not loaded, or No expected count. Write how old records map to the new model in Mapping and rules.
